This one was a challenge in that with each successive headshot, I had to retain the shape of the ones below it, and in some cases, have the images show through underneath, all while staying within the (invisible) confines of the panel borders. It was a bit of a balancing act.
Because I'm working far ahead into the series, I can tell you that you're in for quite a treat with Nadine. She's inspired story elements that I hadn't anticipated before, and as a result, I've had to readjust my story on the fly. You'll get an idea of what I mean further down the road.
Long time readers of this blog may recognize the names Bibi and Eric, especially from this post; they're two of my closest friends, and while this movie-within-the-strip isn't about them specifically, I couldn't resist using their names. In fact, all the names of the movie characters are taken from real life friends of mine, as you'll soon see.
The title "Matching Socks" isn't necessarily indicative of anything. It's just one of those out-of-the-blue titles. To me it implies domesticity and the little irritating things that make up living with someone, when you really discover how strong your relationship is. I had worked on an earlier version of this story featuring two women filmmakers creating a movie with that name, until I decided that I'd rather do this with City Mouse instead, so I put it aside. Perhaps I'll show you a page from that version if you wanna see it.
Rich, I've come in the middle of your CITY MOUSE strip, but you've got me intrigued! I'll have to catch up with the whole thing; looking forward to it!
