I feel I should add that this post is completely true. I was totally obsessed with BOTP when I was in grade school and I did draw the Phoenix (that's the ship that G-Force travels in) ALL THE TIME and I did like to pretend I was one of them. It was the first time I was exposed to anime, though far from the last. My handwriting, however, was a little bit better than this in third grade.
Battle of the Planets (Science Ninja Team Gatchaman) was my introduction to the wacky world of anime. When I observed the character design of other shows like Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato) and Robotech (Super Dimension Fortress Macross), I thought, "Hmm... I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Since then, I've been cursed with the brand of otaku. In the past year, I have subjected myself (and my wife Suze) to viewings of Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Alchemist, Appleseed XIII and Ah! My Goddess. Curse you BotP! I also make a point of having an annual viewing of Megazone 23 around Christmastime with Suze and a couple of friends. You're more than welcome to come by and it doesn't have to be in the dead of winter! BIRD, GO! - John Baker
Oh, Rick, how cool! You (almost) convinced me to watch Battle of the Planets.
ReplyDeleteGreetings!
ALMOST???
ReplyDeleteWhat would it take to convince you?
I laughed so much when I read this! Thanks so much for entering our contest, and with so clever a spin!
ReplyDelete(Confession: I have never seen Battle of the Planets. Eep.)
