I'm planning a special double-feature for next Monday: A Place in the Sun and Giant. We'll talk more about her then. For now, I'll simply say that she was one of the all-time greats, and she'll be missed.
UPDATE 3.24.11: I've changed my mind; I'm gonna stick with just A Place in the Sun, though I may write about Giant sometime down the road.
Don't kill me but I don't think I've seen a Liz Taylor film in its entirety. I might check out Cleopatra one of these days. Btw, how do you feel about the Cleopatra remake? I really think they should go with someone other than Angelina Jolie. Waaaaay too skinny for the role I think.
'Cleopatra' was a huge bomb when it came out. That might not be the best place to start. You might like 'Father of the Bride' or 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'.
Jolie might be the modern-day successor to Taylor, so in terms of star-power alone, I suppose she's perfect for the part, but in terms of historical accuracy... not so much. Not that I expect historical accuracy from Hollyweird.
