Those were formative years for me in terms of my overall appreciation of film. It was a great time to be in video retail. It would’ve been very different indeed if streaming had been around.Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376065182154885503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4189120682398421108.post-58751868067034776332019-12-09T16:58:32.423-05:002019-12-09T16:58:32.423-05:00The changes in media don't bother me, but they...The changes in media don't bother me, but they don't excite me. I guess as a consumer I've always been just a small cog in the wheel of the machinery, but I don't particularly enjoy being so hyper aware of it.

We (my sister Maureen and I) saw Downton Abbey at the small screen room of a local theatre and could look over into the larger theatre showing The Irishman. It was one of the "youthed" scenes and I'll admit to being freaked out as it was unexpected. I may need a couple of Irish Coffees to get through it. I agree, the way the mob conducts business does look like political relations, at least in movies like this.

Man, you only have two movie theaters where you are? That’s a shame.Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376065182154885503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4189120682398421108.post-64217036388644172592019-12-07T15:53:04.277-05:002019-12-07T15:53:04.277-05:00Great review! Living in a city that has two movie theaters, I'm thankful for streaming because so many films are never released here, and with streaming I don't have to wait months to see them on DVD or TV. But, of course, we do pay more attention to detail in a movie theater.
I also think The Irishman would have worked as a miniseries. And Peggy was a fundamental character, and so was her silence. I wrote a bit about the film and a few connections if you're interested:
https://medium.com/@startspreading/the-irishman-2019-notes-and-connections-b8218d12f751Lêhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02419693749682458647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4189120682398421108.post-73334971820647808652019-12-06T22:52:56.589-05:002019-12-06T22:52:56.589-05:00Read an interview with De Niro where he saw the fo...Read an interview with De Niro where he saw the footage of himself looking younger and told the FX people they added twenty years to his career.Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11376065182154885503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4189120682398421108.post-86196143117937406582019-12-06T22:03:52.182-05:002019-12-06T22:03:52.182-05:00It seems like a lot of folks are impressed by the ...It seems like a lot of folks are impressed by the use of CGI in this film.
